Woodshed

My family moved to Palmer, Alaska and into this incomplete house after retiring from the Air Force in July 2010.  Once we got here from Alabama, it was a matter of prioritizing what must be done in order to prepare for winter.  Getting the home insulated, minimal plumbing & wiring installed was our number one priority.  That meant that firewood would be procured after snow was already on the ground. This was an oversight on our part since this was the first home we had ever lived in that was heated exclusively with wood. That meant the entire winter we were scrounging wood here and there as we had time and means to get it. All of our firewood for the first two winters was procured by snowmachine almost exclusively.  In the summer of 2012 we had walls in our home and a couple of toilets working.  The ministry was becoming very busy by expanding our circuit to three villages that we preached in every month.  Although busy, the summer of 2012 was committed almost entirely to building a woodshed that would enclose our wood-fired boiler and two winters worth of firewood. During that summer we had three retired couples from Alabama show up and want to help.  They spent part of their vacation in Alaska helping us build this woodshed.  I don’t believe anyone else has been more excited about a woodshed than the Pinnix family. No longer do we have to dig through the snow under a tarp, to get firewood to throw in the boiler to keep the house warm!
