Southeast Alaska Project

The Mission

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:18-21)

The mission hasn’t changed – and the people of Southeast Alaska are included!  “Major cities are Juneau, Ketchikan, and Sitka. Other towns are Petersburg, Wrangell, Metlakatla, Haines, Hoonah, Angoon, Kake, Craig, Klawock, Thorne Bay, Yakutat, Skagway, and Gustavus. There are also many towns and villages with around 100 people, such as Baranof Warm Springs, Edna Bay, Elfin Cove, Excursion Inlet, Funter Bay, Meyers Chuck, Pelican, Port Alexander, Port Frederick, Port Protection, and Tenakee Springs. This region is also home to the easternmost town in Alaska, Hyder.” (credit: wikipedia)

THE MISSIONARY

“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” (Isaiah 6:8)

The Means

A live aboard ocean vessel will provide housing and transportation between Southeast Alaskan Villages.  Currently, we have looked at four ocean vessels that we feel would be appropriate in size and accommodation.  Of these four, one boat – the Grand Finale – stands out above the rest.  Please pray with us for God’s will and direction in the acquisition of a live aboard ocean vessel for the Southeast Alaska Project.
